I recently reviewed an eight book series that I would love to share with our CCA followers. The previously published books have been updated, republished, and are ready to hit the children’s market!

Talented Disney artist, Glen Keane, has written and illustrated a series of books that young children will love. The Adventures of Adam Raccoon take place in the heart of the Master’s Wood. Adam Raccoon, along with his animal friends, find both danger and beauty in the woods filled with streams, waterfalls, and tall trees. Kids will easily relate to Adam who is playful, curious, a little mischievous, and tender hearted. Whenever Adam gets himself into trouble by going his own way, King Aren comes to the rescue.

The stories are easy to read, but packed with biblical truth without being preachy. As Adam learns that following the King is always the best way to go, children will learn that following Jesus is always right. Several of the stories parallel familiar parables from the Bible, bringing in the Gospel message in a kid-friendly way. Kids will also learn that like King Aren, Jesus is strong, wise, and loving. He is always with us and watches over us to guide and protect us.

The illustrations are fun and colorful, and it’s no wonder since Glen Keane is a pro! He is most noted for creating and animating such legendary Disney characters as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Pocahontas, the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, and Tarzan. He joined Disney in 1974 where he trained under Walt Disney’s top animators.

The Adventures of Adam Raccoon combine meaningful stories with colorful and lively illustrations and characters that both young and old can relate to. I highly recommend this series for young children!
