Bible Verse Activities for Kids-Proverbs 14:5 and Acts 5:29
“A faithful witness will not lie.” Proverbs 14:5 (KJV)
“We must obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29 (ESV)
When I was growing up, there were few things I could get in trouble for worse than telling a lie. Truthfulness and honesty were foundational to my family’s relationships. The choice was always clear – tell the truth or tell a lie. But, I worry about the generation growing up today. Instead of a clear choice between telling the truth or telling a lie, they face a world trying to convince them that there is no truth, that truth can change based on circumstances, or that it’s impossible to really know the truth about anything.
What we believe about truth and the nature of truth influences every part of our lives and our relationships, with each other and with God. How can children take the command to obey God seriously when they aren’t sure there even is a God, that we can know with certainty what He has said, or that what He says is the Truth?
I am thankful for my parents modeling truthfulness, honesty, and obedience to God. As we teach and interact with the kids in our lives, may we always point them to the very source of Truth.
