Cook up something new this week
Do you buy the same items at the grocery store week in and week out? Many of us are creatures of habit and buy what’s familiar. I find myself cooking the same entrees for dinner over and over, focusing on foods my family likes.
But God gave us an amazing variety of flavorful, colorful foods – sweet potatoes, grapes, asparagus, turkey, olives, scallions, eggs. So why not try something different this week? If you always make meat and potatoes, find a vegetarian dish that uses beans and pasta or make a vegetable quiche. If you serve lots of pasta, try a grain like quinoa or barley. Switch out chicken for pork or fish for beef.
Before grocery shopping, find a recipe that is way different than entrees you usually make for dinner. Check an online site like www.allrecipes.com where you can search by typing in an ingredient and a list of recipes pops up. Then enjoy whipping up a new dish. Your family may enjoy it so much that they’ll clamor for a new recipe EVERY week!
Happy cooking!
