New Year, New Light
Do you find that once Christmas has come and gone, the decorations and lights of the season seem to dim? Does your spirit begin to droop too?
Or maybe you are still basking in Christmas’s glow.
Whatever our circumstances, there’s a path we need to walk as we welcome 2013. Yesterday in my Facebook newsfeed, I found this simple prayer by Kathy Girton, a counselor and missionary. It describes that path so very well:
Christmas 2012 has just past and the new year is fast approaching. How will 2013 be different from 2012?
Look often at Philippians 4. I pray 2013 is full of joy, compassion, contentment and appreciation. May Christ be reflected in all of us so that others will know someone cares. May we reach out in kindness to help those hurting and not be afraid to step out of our comfort zones to care more for others than ourselves.
Let us end each day counting our blessings and giving praise to the One providing as we leave our anxiousness and needs at His feet. Let us be more about forgiving and thankfulness. Let us guard our minds as we focus on things true, just, pure, honest, lovely and admirable.
If we put these things into practice, then we will know peace for 2013. God bless you all!
