This New Year 2013
The new year is about to turn over again. For most of us this is an exciting time, but for some there may be reluctance, for many concern, and for others expectations. What ever our perception might be for the coming year, it will most likely be a time of change.
One way to transition into 2013 is to stop, reflect, and think about the past year that has come and gone. Now it is time to look back and take note of those times and places where God has made a mark on your life.
Look back over 2012 and remember where these were – some are in full view, while others remain quite obscure. What is it you were grateful for? Was it answered prayer, healing from an injury or illness? Was it your work or a new skill? Was it for a new friend or an influence the Lord prepared for you? By recognizing these past events where God made an appearance in your life, it becomes easier for us to move forward knowing with confidence He is at our side. In this way we may go on and put our trust in Him for our futures needs.
This year I am grateful for the baptism of our eight-year-old granddaughter. I am thankful that our family has been employed in these difficult times. I am thankful for new friends whom I look forward to meeting with again. I am grateful for answered prayers that stand out a bold marker over the passing year. All these markers remind me to enter with confidence into this new year.
My certain hope is not in things, but in the One who gave His life for me and Who would do it all again. It is then I find peace for a future yet unseen, when I take the time to note each marker my heavenly Father has left for me. I encourage you to move into the new year with the One who desires to give you every good thing and Who will be there for you when things go wrong again. No matter where this new year leads I have a certain hope and I am ready to recognize and mark out all the places Jesus will be taking me.
