Finding Peace
My work on this post got waylaid this morning when I received news that a dear friend, a wife and mother of three children, suffered a stroke. Her life hangs in the balance and it is only through God’s will that she will be healed. Since we’re on vacation right now, I received this message via text.
Our peaceful vacation suddenly became anything other than peaceful. My girls are friends with this woman’s children. Her family is part of our church family and we have known them for years. I struggled to find peace in this situation, despite praying. That’s when I turned to the Bible. Here are a few verses that talk about peace:
Psalm 29:11
The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.
John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
Romans 8:6
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I hope you’ll join me in praying for Dianne and her family, asking for healing for her and for peace and comfort for her family, in addition to strength for the days ahead.
