Praying for Our Children
My mother-in-law has always encouraged me to pray for my children. I must admit it wasn’t always part of my daily time with God. But as I’ve matured–as a mother and as a Christian–I’ve found praying for my children to be vital to my sense of peace.
The world is a dangerous place filled with evils I can only imagine. Our children are faced with choices and challenges I never had to experience growing up. Just listening to some of the stories our girls bring home from school is enough to fill this mother’s heart with anxiety. It’s only through the power of prayer I am free of the tension that worry brings into life.
We can’t protect our children from everything. But God can protect them. He can guide them. He can help them. All we need to do is ask.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (Philippians 4:6)
