Surprises and Rainbows
When I first moved to South Florida several years ago I was surprised by something that I had never experienced while living in Michigan. One day as I was driving down the road, it was raining where I was, but the sun was shining and the sky was blue in other parts of the sky. The next thing I knew, the roads were dry and I turned off my wipers while it was still raining behind me.
On another occasion, I was taking a power walk in my neighborhood when it suddenly started raining. I wasn’t far from home, but when I reached home it was not raining, so I walked in the other direction to finish my exercise. I have even heard that it can be raining in your front yard but not the back yard (I guess if you have a big yard!).
The really cool thing about this phenomena is that it produces frequent rainbows. Sometimes they are faint, partial rainbows, but one morning I saw the biggest and brightest full rainbow I had ever seen. I felt as though I could reach out and touch it. It look like a 3-D prop that someone had placed on the stage of a play.
Only God can do things like that. Only God can give us those kind of surprises and hang big, bright rainbows over the earth. Creation shouts praises to His name and gives glory to Him. Whether it’s raining or sunny, or both at the same time, we too can shout praises to His name and give glory to God.
Here’s to sunny, rainy days and giant rainbows!
