Looking for a fun way to reinforce Bible learning? Apples to Apples® Bible Edition fits the bill. The zany game of comparisons has a Bible edition to help expand core knowledge of Christian history for groups of four or more. Follow the easy set of instructions for hours of fun.
One person acts as the judge. The judge controls the tray of cards. After players have been dealt seven red apple cards, the judge flips over a green apple card. All players except the judge place face down the card in their hand they believe most closely matches the green apple card. The judge then picks up all the red apple cards, shuffles them, and decides which red apple card most closely matches the green apple card. The judge gives the green apple card to the player whose red apple card was picked. The tray of cards is then passed clockwise to the player on her left, who is the judge for the next round. The player who wins four green apple cards first is the winner.
The green apple cards show one word with a few definitions. The red apple cards have a person, place or thing found in the Bible. Examples include: Candles, The Good Samaritan, Walls of Jericho, and Clay. Red apple cards also include a Bible verse that ties into the word on the card.
I’ve been using Apples to Apples Bible Edition for weeks in my Sunday School room. After the lesson, we break out this game to play during snack time. Our classroom is small, so this game gives the students a chance to have some fun within the confines of the room. The best thing is that this doesn’t feel like learning to students, but as a Sunday school teacher and Christian parent, I know this game helps to reinforce what I’m trying to teach.
Highly recommended. A great activity for a snowy or rainy day.
