Christmas Memories and Hope
Have you decorated your Christmas tree yet? As I type, ours is a work in progress. Each ornament that we unwrap holds special memories. Some are angels made of paper doilies and glitter, the work of tiny hands in Sunday School in years past. Others are gift ornaments from grandparents and family friends, representing season of our lives: first Christmas, the Barbie(R) ornament, the Little Tykes(R) car, that favorite football star, and the list goes on and on. The memories and stories unfold as the tree becomes a thing of shining beauty. Many conversations with guests will revolve around the tree, the ornaments, and the memories. New ornaments will join the old as well.
What a perfect time to talk about the true meaning of Christmas! The nativity ornaments and the angels on the tree are a perfect reminder of the best event in the past, when God sent His Son to earth. And by far, Jesus’ birth is the one true hope of world. My friend, Diane Stortz, posted about that special Christmas baby yesterday – The Christmas Baby and the Cross. When you admire the beauty of your Christmas tree this year, I encourage you to take time with those you love to thank God for the true wonder of the season – Jesus Christ.
Many blessing to you and your family this joyous Christmas season –
