Hearing God’s Voice
I recently had an ear infection that plugged my right ear for over a week. Not only could I not hear with that ear, it affected my total listening ability. The sounds I heard were muffled, confusing, and annoying. I tried to carry on with my normal life, but it was difficult and frustrating. When my ear healed and my hearing finally returned to normal, I was filled with joy! I could hear everything perfectly and there was no more confusion.
I heard a pastor say that going through the day without reading your Bible is like wearing hearing aids without batteries. How can we listen to God’s voice and follow His clear direction if we can’t hear Him? God speaks to us in different ways, but the surest way to hear His voice is from the pages of Scripture where He speaks directly to His people. When we go through our days without hearing God’s voice, we can get confused and frustrated. Life can be annoying and muffled when we don’t listen to Him. But when we open His Word and listen to God speak to us, we will be filled with joy for the day–regardless of our surrounding circumstances.
As we begin a new year, may I encourage you to open God’s Word and listen to His voice? He speaks loud and clear!
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ, Romans 10:17, ESV
