Thanksgiving Traditions
As the holiday season approaches, it’s nice to remember the traditions that are carried over year to year within your family.
One of my sisters makes French meat stuffing like my mother used to when we were kids. My other sister starts off her Thanksgiving meal by having family members each share one thing for which they are thankful. It’s my tradition to hold Thanksgiving dinner at my home every year since we moved in. Sometimes the gathering is large, sometimes it isn’t, but everyone knows Cheryl will be cooking if they want to stop by.
It is fun to start new traditions, too. This year, my sister came up from Texas and we invited family and friends to join us in an early Thanksgiving meal. There ended up being so many of us we needed to rent a hall. There was a raffle, a photo booth and DJ at our gathering, which we lovingly termed, FauxGiving. Each person was asked to write down a memorable moment from 2015 on an index card, which was then read aloud randomly.

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! – Psalm 95:2 (NRSV)
