New Year Resolutions – Devotionals for Preteens
People begin making resolutions for the new year at a pretty young age. Sometimes parents can guide the preteen’s resolutions by encouraging them to start a new devotional for the new year.
What are the benefits of devotionals for preteens?
- Encouragement to study the Bible on a regular basis
- Guidance in studying the Bible
- Applications for their own lives
What should you look for in a devotional for a preteen?
- Appealing cover
- Format
- Wording
- Engagement
Once a devotional has been selected, how can parents encourage their preteens to follow through and use it as a springboard for Bible study? I posted about Establishing Devotional Routines with Preteens.
I am privileged to be the author of two devotionals for preteens.
Dare U 2 Open This Book is for guys ages 8 – 12.
Just Sayin’ is for girls, also ages 8 – 12.
Each devotion offers a Scripture and a real-life application. Then the reader is encourage to draw or write how it would apply to his or her own life.
I pray that your preteen will find just the right devotional to explore God’s Word in this New Year.

These books are wonderful devotions for preteens! They are modern, fun, and creative. They engage the reader and encourage a response. But they are more than just “fluff.” The content and messages draw readers into a closer relationship with God. And by the way–these are both award winning books–Just Sayin’!
Thank you, Crystal. I pray that they will engage preteens as they draw closer in their walk with Jesus.
