Help Kids Dig for Treasure
When I was a kid, one of my favorite Bible study resources was a cyclopedic concordance. I know that might sound a little strange, but I always enjoyed being able to see groups of related things in Scripture, without having to narrow the focus to a single word like a standard concordance.
As I was thinking about that today, it struck me that a cyclopedic concordance is also a great source for finding ideas for series of lessons for kids—or better yet, a great way to involve the kids in digging through their Bibles for the treasures they can find. Imagine hosting a Bible bug hunt and looking at some of the many places bugs and insects are mentioned in the Bible. Or you could look at the numerous types of animals in the Bible, from the antelope to the wolf. It can even provide a springboard for a homeschool series of discussions on topics like metals and minerals of the Bible, units of measure, geography of the Bible, and many others.
Here is a list of themes to get you started, but there are many, many more! What would you add to the list? Please let us know in the comments below.
