As with interest in any profession, perhaps the best thing a parent can do is to live over all Godly parenting which includes prayer for guidance. We all know that parents are people. They make mistakes and can be confused about the next step to take, but as in all areas of parenting, the Bible offers guidance. Day-to-day parenting can be tough. Here are some verses that are close to my heart.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
This is one of my favorite verses. It applies to parenting as well as every area of life. We don’t have to understand the next step. We just need to seek Him for guidance.
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
Isn’t it wonderful to know that we can offer children teaching about God and His teaching in the Bible? Isn’t it even more wonderful that God is there to guide them through every important decision in their lives?
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
You may be raising a Christian author, OR you may be raising a child who will fulfill another Christian role.
ALL of God’s callings are noble.
