Activity for Christian Children’s Books
Making a word search puzzle is a great way to reinforce the ideas in a Christian children’s book. The puzzles could be made by a parent or teacher, or children could make them for their siblings and friends.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- A fiction children’s book or a Bible storybook
- Graph paper (1/2 inch grid works and can be printed from the internet)
- A strip of plain paper
- A marker or pen
- A pencil
- A highlighter
MAKE THE PUZZLE
- Read the book together.
- Choose a Bible verse or sentence that represents the message of the book.
- Write the verse (or message) on the strip of plain paper.
- Write each word from the verse on the grid paper. Each grid space should contain only one letter. The words might be written across, up and down, or at an angle.
- Fill in the remaining spaces with random letters.
- Give the puzzle to a sibling or friend. Ask them to circle the words on the grid and highlight them on the plain paper as they find them.
