Grandparents Day Activities
Tomorrow is Grandparents Day! Every grandparent I know cherishes each moment with his or her grandchildren. Grandparents Day is the perfect time to share time with grandparents, whether in person or virtually through technology.
Before I go on, don’t be stopped by the “technology” statement. Sharing time through technology can involve programs such as Skype and FaceTime. It can also include videos, BUT using technology to connect can be as simple as picking up the telephone and making a call. Often we criticize “screen time”, but it is a wonderful way for families to connect long distance.
What activities might be shared via technology or in person?
- A simple conversation
- A mini joke fest
- Reading a book
- Sharing a song
- An outing (like a visit to the zoo or the park)
- An event (like a ballgame or dance program)
- An experience (like chatting while making cookies)
- A visit/tour (as one to the child’s school)
Almost every activity could be done with any age grandchild, with some requiring a little more parent support for young children.
How will your family celebrate Grandparents Day?
