New Home, New Authors: Wanda Luthman
I moved last year and started meeting new people. I also met new authors. Part of the fun of moving is making new friends. One of my new author friends is Wanda Luthman, author of The Lilac Princess and other picture books.TheĀ book is an adventure with dragons and good and evil. The underlying focus is forgiveness.
Wanda She’s a high school guidance counselor with a degrees in Health Counseling and Guidance Counseling. More than that, she’s a bubbly person full of joy and a ready smile. She loves children of all ages, a key ingredient in being a great children’s author. She created a whimsical world with a message that we can change the world by love and forgiveness. She always wanted to write and found it an adventure to learn how to do her own book.
Love and forgiveness are always needed and often in short supply when people disagree.
Wanda also writes articles for Swell Life Magazine and the Space Coast Daily. She wants children to be the best they can be and to develop great character. She takes an inflatable, friendly dragon with her to book events and enjoys reading to children at libraries.
As to the book, it’s about the scent of lilacs, the quest for freedom, the search for what caused a peaceful place to become involved in war and how forgiveness changed life gain to bring peace.
It’s also about a poor boy whose father died in battle, a lonely princess, and a man cursed to live as a dragon until someone does something to free him.
It’s great to read a book with a focus on forgiveness and then chat about the importance of saying you are sorry and forgiving others. It’s also a reminder than anger can trap us from being free. It might not be a great time to go to the beach to build a sand castle, but you can make a pretend one from boxes and talk about the qualities of a real princess of the kingdom.
A real princess wants to be like Jesus who always forgives us!
Be willing to forgive this week.
Blessings,
Karen
