Pray Without Ceasing!
One of my favorite Bible verses is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, which reads, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” I have turned to this verse for encouragement during difficult situations in my life. It reminds me that God not only wants us to be happy, but to rejoice in all circumstances. When we are under spiritual attack or we feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, God instructs us to rejoice! This is the perfect example of the great reversal in the economy of God. But how can we rejoice at the same time that we are experiencing feelings of despair? How can we be joyful in difficult times? The answer is through the power and grace of God via prayer! We are to pray without ceasing.
Our actions speak louder than our words. We need to let our children see us praying all the time. When our children see us praying during the difficult situations we encounter in life, they learn that they too can trust in the Lord when bad things happen to them. When they see how our countenance changes after prayer, they realize that God brings us happiness and comfort in times of sadness.

Prayer is the key to bringing about revival in our homes and country. As the Lord assures us in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” May 4th is the National Day of Prayer. As we commit to working to strengthen our prayer life, let us also all pledge to set aside May 4th to pray for our nation.
