FREE Women of the Bible Coloring Page – Hannah
Hannah is an example of a woman who persisted in prayer. I Samuel 1:7 says Hannah went up “year after year.” To make it worse, her rival “kept provoking her in order to irritate her” (v. 6). When God granted her the son she had prayed for, she ultimately gave him back to God as she promised. I can’t begin to imagine what she had to battle to let him go, to be willingly separated from him, in order to do what she’d promised. He was a blessing, but he was a blessing that called her to a battle.
I spoke with someone today who compared children to the Promised Land. Both are blessings, but both call the people who are blessed to battle. The Israelites fought to hold on to the land God had given them. Parents must fight for the hearts, minds, and souls of their children against all that would harm them.
It made me wonder if it’s not like that with all great blessings. Is being given a blessing also a call to fight for it? What are your thoughts? What blessings in your life have you had to fight to be faithful with?
