Life and Heart Change
The Bible is God’s true Word, from Genesis to Revelation. From the account of creation to Jonah in the belly of a great fish. From the global flood to the resurrection Jesus Christ. It’s all true.
So what do we do with this amazing book?
For many of us, the Bible is a textbook to be memorized and quoted. But according to the apostle Paul, God gave us His Word for more than that. He wants us to read it and see Him on each page…and to see ourselves on its pages, too. Paul wrote to his young protégé, Timothy:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (II Timothy 3:16-17).
It’s true the Lord wants us to learn how to live and to be convicted about the areas where we’re living wrongly. But most importantly, He wants the truths of Scripture to reach down to be inscribed on our hearts.
What is it then that He would have us truly know? Paul told us,
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may…grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge” (Ephesians 3:17-19 NIV).
Allow the Bible to change how you live because it has changed your heart. Then teach a child to do the same. Even young children can experience life- and heart-change!
