Little Lamb Fun
Easter and spring bring thoughts of little lambs and other baby animals. Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd and we are his lambs. Have some fun creating lambs and how Jesus is our shepherd. Read Psalm 23 as a family and point out how Jesus cares for us.
Try some of these activities and then discuss Jesus as the Lamb of God and the Good Shepherd.
- Rice cereal lamb treats. Mix a batch of marshmallow cereal treats. Shape them into lambs. Make them fluffier by sticking on tiny marshmallows for the hair and tail. Try making standing lambs by shaping an egg body, adding stick legs and a small egg shaped head. Decorate white paper plates to make a lamb mask. Add ears and a pink nose. Cut holes for child’s eyes to see through. Add elastic to wear the mask or a stick to hold it up.
- Make marshmallow lambs with various sizes of marshmallows and pretzel sticks.
- Play follow the leader and chat about following Jesus
- Visit a place where children can see or touch lambs. Chat about the soft wall and how babies are signs of new life that remind us that someday we’ll have a new life in heaven.
- Find things made of wool. Chat about how lambs help people. How as God’s lambs can we help people?
- Sheep can jump a short fence or stream. Place a blue blanket on the floor and play a game of jumping over the stream.
- The shepherd looks for his lost sheep. Play hide and seek as a reminder that God, like a shepherd, wants to pick us you when we get lost.
- Blow up white balloons. Draw faces with markers. Use fly swatters or feather dusters to gather the sheep into an area or onto a blanket.
Have fun,
