What Delight
“Mama, Daddy! Look at that chipmunk! Look at it’s HUGE cheeks!”
Walla! The perfect opportunity to marvel with this child at God’s amazing creation.
“Oh, my goodness! That’s amazing! God thought of everything. He gave that little creature grocery sacks inside its mouth. It looks like he’s on his way home from shopping! The Lord must really love that little guy to have thought of such a helpful thing and provided for him like that.”
As we explore this world with our young ones, there are multitudes of opportunities to make connections between what we discover and the God who created it. As we do, they’ll begin to see God as real and relevant, building a solid, experiential foundation of faith. Then as we read to them scriptures like Matt. 6:25- 34, we can refer back to that little chipmunk, or some other critter you’ve encountered together, and remind them of their own real-life-lesson, helping them connect their own experience to the God of the Bible.
In the Joyful Creation Series, I’ve used creation itself to introduce children to the God of creation in several ways. In Made For a Purpose, We examine a few unique creatures, marveling at God’s wisdom as we go.
So Great a Love, uses animals to demonstrate various aspects of God great love for us.
In It’s a Jungle in Here, I’ve highlighted God’s variety filled creation and His pleasure with it – especially with you!
For additional resources, I have a page on my website with special TidBits about each of the animals in my books. People can go there and find some particularly interesting facts about each one, as well as a brief note on knowing Jesus.

May the Lord bless your many adventures and fan the wonderful curiosity He gave us – to lead us straight back to Him!
Matt. 6:25 -34 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So, do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the unbelievers run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
