A New Generation
A few weeks ago I was staying with my son and daughter-in-law to help care for my almost three-year-old grandson who had just become a big brother. We played with his train set, built sky scrapers with Duplos, and created colorful designs with washable markers. Using a bright pink marker, he scribbled a design that filled the page. When I asked him what it was, he confidently replied, “It’s a website for a spider.”
I then realized that this new generation will use vocabulary words and have technical skills that didn’t exist in previous generations. Cell phones, tablets, and other electronic devices will be as natural to them as a box of crayons. They will know how to navigate a computer or iPad, and find websites for anything–even spiders.
Though technology changes at rapid speed, something that never changes is God’s Word. The stories we write for children today may use different images or vocabulary words, but the truth that God loves them remains the same.
Hebrews 13:8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. We can write those words on tablets, iPads, computers, or with a pink marker on white paper. Better yet, let’s write those words on the hearts of this new generation.
Here’s to websites for spiders!
