Merry Christmas Books by Jill Roman Lord
Oh what joy it is to recommend Christmas books, knowing that these will become cherished memories and part of precious traditions for many children and their families! Today I have the honor or recommending not one…but three Merry Christmas books by engaging children’s author, Jill Roman Lord.
This adorable touch and feel book is just perfect for little hands to hold! In this delightful book, a child imagines what he’d do if he was each of the characters in the Christmas story. It turns out he’d do his best to honor Jesus no matter who he was. If he was the sheep, he’d do his best cuddling baby Jesus. If he was the shepherd, he’d run the fastest to see Jesus. If he was the cow, he’d moo the loudest to spread the news of Jesus. And if he was a wiseman, he’d give his best gift. (His teddy bear, of course!) In the end, he realizes he can celebrate Jesus by praising him and telling others about Jesus.
This engaging book with its luminous illustration will draw young readers right into the Christmas story.
This is the manger
Where Jesus first lay
When he was born on that grand Christmas Day!
This is the cow
That moved out of the way
To share her own manger where Jesus first lay
When he was born on that grand Christmas Day!
So the story builds, each new page adding to the repeating words from the pages before until…finally! The exciting moment arrives! Baby Jesus is born…on that grand Christmas Day!
What happened on the night Jesus was born? Just imagine all the animals tweeting and bleating to help spread the wonderful news!
It may have been a silent night when Jesus came to earth, or…
It may have been a NOISY night to celebrate His birth.
I wonder if the cows all mooed.
The horses must have neighed.
Could little goats have bleated loud
and led the grand parade?
As the animals all chime in to rejoice in the birth of Jesus, little ones are encouraged to join in the chorus with praise and adoration for the new baby King! What a delightful, interactive book for reading together on Christmas morning during devotions with your family.
Merry Christmas, parents and grandparents, teachers and ministry workers! This year you can add these meaningful books to your Christmas gift list and stack of books you read together each year.
