Activities to focus on Jesus for Christmas
Christmas is finally upon us again. Parents have been preparing for this day and children have been anticipating it for several months. Family traditions are treasured, relatives gather together to celebrate, and of course there are many presents to wrap and then to unwrap.
In all the excitement may we never forget the Christ Child’s birth, the very reason for the celebration. For this post, I have gathered together several activities that families might use to help bring the focus back to the baby Jesus.
This post would have normally fallen on Christmas Day, but acknowledging the difficulty of getting a child’s attention once the packages are opened, it is published on Christmas Eve to encourage families to use these activities to remind children of all ages to remember the true meaning of Christmas.
This Christmas Bible Quiz will challenge the whole family to consider what we know, or think we know, about the events surrounding the birth of Christ. Click on the link to download a PDF file of the Christmas Bible Quiz.
Here is a puzzle for the children to help them separate the Biblical Christmas from the other traditions that have been added to our Christmas traditions. PDF file for a Christmas Puzzle.
The book, Baby Jesus . . . Messiah! tells the full story of the birth of Christ in kid-friendly language. It is available in three formats, as a picture book, as a coloring book, or as an ebook. It’s obviously too late to get a printed copy before Christmas – that’s too hard even for Santa. But the ebook is available instantly. All three formats include the download link for the pictures as coloring pages. Here are three favorite coloring pages by Violet Vandor for you to enjoy without making a purchase:
