God, I Feel Scared
Last spring, I posted a review of God, I Feel Sad, and shared how helpful the book was when my son’s family was grieving the loss of a dad in their neighborhood. The second book in the “I Feel” series has just been released. “God, I Feel Scared, is written by the same authors—licensed professional counselor Michelle Nietert and Tama Fortner. Both of these wonderful writers have years of experience brining God’s truth to the next generation.
The subtitle for each of the books in this series is: Bringing Big Emotions to a Bigger God, and that’s exactly what these books are all about. Children have deep emotions, just like adults do, but it can be hard for parents to know how to address those emotions in a positive way.
God, I Feel Scared teaches kids ages 4-8 how to recognize things that make them afraid and how to develop techniques to manage their fear. Through kid-friendly words and bright illustrations, children will learn how to safely explore what it means to feel scared. The nonfiction text helps children discover healthy and positive ways to process their emotions. With the help of grownups who love them, they can learn to face the things that make them feel afraid, and they will learn that they can talk to God about their feelings when they feel overwhelmed.
The books in the “I Feel” series are a great resource for parents, teachers, children’s ministry, counselors, and anyone who spends time with children. When children learn how to recognize and communicate their feelings, they develop good mental health habits at an early age.
Thank you, Michelle and Tama for providing these wonderful resources for homes, schools, and churches.
