FingerPrint Devotions
My friend Sandra Chambers is the author of a fabulous new book of devotions that kids will love! It’s my pleasure to introduce Sandra to our reading audience so she can tell us about herself and her new book.
Please tell us a little about yourself:
I’m a wife, mother, former teacher, travel writer, freelance journalist, and an author. I taught school for several years and have a BA in English and an MA in Education. In my writing career, I have written 700+ news stories, profiles, features, cover stories, and travel stories for 20+ publications. In 2014, I self-published a book on prayer, Lord, It’s Boring in My Prayer Closet. Then during COVID, I started writing children’s books just for fun and got hooked. I also began a Christian parenting podcast called 5-Minute Parenting. When not writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our daughter, son-in-law, and their adorable Frenchie. My hobbies include travel, photography, walking on the beach, eating local seafood, and curling up with a good mystery or historical fiction book.
Tell us about your new book:
Fingerprint Devotions: 40 Devotions to Help You Realize You Are a Kid Uniquely Created by God for a Purpose was recently published by Ambassador International Publishers on November 7, 2023. The devotions help children understand that like their fingerprints, they are unique, and God has a purpose and plan for their life. It pairs fun scientific facts about fingerprints with a Scripture, a short devotional, a prayer, and a journal question or activity. There’s a free, downloadable activity booklet with purchase.
Why did you write this book?
I believe God birthed this idea in me when I began discovering unique facts about fingerprints. I thought kids would really enjoy these facts. Also, the fact that everyone’s fingerprints are unique relates to how God created each of us to be one-of-a-kind. Today, the world’s influence on our children begins so early and as parents and teachers we need to build a foundation of truth in their lives to equip them to stand against an ungodly worldview that permeates our current culture. My passion is to also get this devotional into the hands of kids who may not be raised in a Christian home, so I’m partnering with 7Homes, a foster/adoption agency to donate books to put in their “care bags” for foster children. What ages did you have in mind as you were writing the devotional?
Ages 8-12.
