DIY Christian Christmas Tree Ornaments and Decorations
Has your family put up a Christmas tree yet this year? The Christmas tree has been a joyous tradition in families for centuries. The ornaments and trims on the trees are as varied as the families who enjoy them; and the number and kinds of ornaments grow from year to year as the families grow. Some ornaments are purchased while others are homemade. Often the ornaments made by the children when they are young become the most treasured of all.
Stand back and look at your tree. Does it honor the One whose birthday we are celebrating? Does it draw attention to Christ Jesus or to that other guy who wears a red suit and carries a bag of toys?
The purpose of this post is to help parents re-direct their children’s thoughts toward Christ Jesus by providing ideas for creating Christian Tree Ornaments and crafts. The end goal is to help children better focus on and appreciate the true reason we celebrate Christmas. There are many websites that offer kid-centered crafts that celebrate the birth of Christ. I have included a few links below.
The Jesse Tree Ornaments are a great way to teach the Gospel story from creation to the birth of Christ. It is also suitable for a daily advent family activity. This link provides free downloadable printouts to make the ornaments as well as the corresponding Scripture passages that teach the meanings of the ornaments. https://awellpurposedwoman.com/jesse-tree-tradition-free-printable/
Another approach to making ornaments is to write the names of Christ on ornaments and decorate them. This website offers a downloadable printout for making them. https://biblestoryprintables.com/themed-bible-printables/christmas-bible-printables/names-of-jesus-advent-ornaments/

The following link is to an article I posted here on Christian Children’s Authors about ten years ago describing one way to make Chrismons TM for the tree. The Illustration at the top of this post is of the Chrismon TM tree in my church. Isn’t it beautiful.
Here is hoping and praying you and your family will have a blessed Christmas this year as you make family memories that will last and will honor Christ Jesus.
