FREE Resource for Pearl Harbor Day
The attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, was undoubtedly one of the turning points in modern history. When I was growing up, it didn’t seem like it had truly been that long ago. My grandfathers both fought in World War II, though they were not in the service when the attack happened. But today’s children are several generations removed from the events of that day and from World War II. Do they know what happened and understand its significance? This free resource provides one way to help them know and understand this historic event.
Copywork is great for handwriting practice, but it’s helpful in many other ways, too. By tracing or copying each word in the assignment, kids are forced to slow down, pausing on each word. This is a perfect way to help them consider the importance of what they are writing about. This copywork unit includes the full text of the speech President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave to Congress on December 8, 1941, following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
You can download the print or cursive version (or both) using coupon code PearlHarborCopy. I hope it is a helpful tool in teaching the children in your life about December 7, 1941, a date that must not be forgotten.
