Do you ever sit down to pray about something and draw a blank on what to pray for? I know I do. The Summer Olympics begin this month in France, with the Paralympics following in August and September, so we have several special opportunities to pray and encourage the kids in our lives to pray with us. I made a list of requests we can pray about to get myself and each of us started. I also have a fun prayer-themed freebie about France for you!

France is in the midst of a national election, and already, the country has been hit with turmoil. The voting resumes July 7. In addition, the 2024 Summer Olympic Games begin July 27 and continue through August 11. The 2024 Summer Paralympic Games begin August 28 and continue through September 8. Here are some ways we can pray:

• For God’s will in France and the nation’s elections
• For peace and safety for the people of France
• Safety for all those traveling to the Olympics
• Safety throughout the games from any threats and injuries
• For believers’ spiritual, mental, and physical health and growth
• For those who do not know Jesus—whether they are athletes, trainers, coaches, those working at the Olympic venues, those watching the games, or are touched by it in any way—to encounter God’s love and come to know Him
• For wisdom for the judges and that they would judge rightly and impartially
• For wisdom for all those working on the logistics for the Olympics
• For ministries seeking to show and share God’s love during the Olympics
• For good sportsmanship and God-honoring interactions between athletes from many different backgrounds and cultures
• For athletes to learn from each other and build each other up
• For those watching the Olympics to see God’s hand on the lives of athletes who trust in Him
• For all athletes to do their best and give God the glory
• For God’s peace to fill the hearts of the athletes who believe in Him and for His presence to overcome the fears they face
• For the athletes to persevere under incredible pressure
• For God to bless and protect those watching, especially children who may be impacted positively or negatively by what they see and hear
• For athletes who trust in God to seek Him above all else, including medals and glory
