Hall of Faith–Remembering Ordinary People Who Trusted God
I am excited to feature a new picture book by my friend and fellow author, Michelle Lazurek. But rather than tell you myself, I will let her share the story behind the story.
Please tell us a little about yourself, Michelle.
I’m a multi-genre, award- winning author, literary agent, pastor’s wife, and mother. I’ve been an author for almost fifteen years. My husband and I have served in pastoral ministry for nearly twenty-five years.
What is your new book about and how did you get the idea?
My new book Hall of Faith is a picture book that retells the Hebrews 11 passage of the same name. My original vision for this book, as I was reading through the Hebrews 11 passage, came while I was watching television. They were talking about the Baseball Hall of Fame, and I just happened to be reading in Hebrews, but I misheard them say the word “fame” and thought they said “faith.” I immediately made the connection between the Hall of Fame and the Hall of Faith and how people were being inducted into the Hall of Fame, and so I thought to myself, “What if children realized they can be a part of (or inducted into) the Hall of Faith too?”
My vision for writing this book is for kids understand that they can be part of the Hall of Faith today. The Bible is not simply an ancient book that has no relevance to their lives. I want kids to see that by demonstrating acts of faith today they can become a part of the Hall of Faith too.
What do you want your readers to learn from reading Hall of Faith?
One of the book’s best parts is the refrain that’s repeated throughout the book. After each character is discussed, it says (for example, if the character is Abraham,) “Abraham had faith because God can be trusted.” I want kids to take away the fact that they can trust God, that God is real, and that he speaks to them. I also want them to believe that whether they are obedient in small acts or significant acts of faith, their acts will display how much faith they have in God, and those acts of faith are essential.
What age is the book written for?
This book is for boys and girls ages 5-8.

Thank you, Michelle, for letting us know more about your book and how it highlights biblical stories of ordinary people who had faith. I like that the book includes application questions to help children see how relavent these stories are today. I also love the idea that anyone can be inducted into the Hall of Faith by believing and trusting God.
I highly commend this book and give it five smiles!
