Long-Distance Grandparenting Adjustments — 10 Comments

  1. Linda, as you know we had to do that for 3 years when our daughter and family (2 granddaughters) moved from Arizona to Oklahoma. It was hard. We Skyped once, but I wasn’t very good at it. Seemed hard to know what to say. And, as you said, mailing packages was hard too. The first year they got the box two days after Christmas. Thankfully, they’re back “home” now.

    • Yes, Donna, I agree that Skyping (and FaceTiming) is a bit awkward. I never know what to say either. But the little ones prefer it because they can see us (which is what makes it awkward!). It holds their attention longer. That’s the only reason I’d do it. And we all know grandmas and grandpas do whatever makes their grandkids happy! LOL. Thanks for your comment.

  2. Thanks for this great post! I am sure there are many grandmas who can use these tips to stay in touch with their little ones who are far away.
