Children’s Books for Vacation
It is vacation season! One of my favorite childhood memories of preparing for a trip was choosing the books and activities that I would take along with me.
Times have changed.
Or have they?
I would like to think that children still choose books to take along on vacation.
Here are ten kinds of books and other reading material for your child or preteen to consider.
- Easy to Read Books – These books are not too challenging, but they offer high interest.
- Read Together Books – Vacation is a great time to spend together. . .reading!
- Magazines – Magazines are high interest with lots of pictures (and often quizzes, jokes, and games).
- Books with Tons of Pictures – Books with animals pictures are always a hit, and kids love to look at them again and again.
- Books with Amazing Facts – Let your kids wow you with the amazing things that they read.
- Joke Books – Enough said.
- Books about Your Destination – Everyone in the family can learn about where you are going.
- Activity Books – Sometimes a doodle book is just what the driver ordered – for the passengers, that is.
- Audio Books – Many reading levels can be enjoyed with an audio book.
- A Surprise Book (wrapped as a gift) – Choose something high interest, new interest, or maybe the most recent book in a much-loved series.
What kinds of books would you add to this list?
Wishing your family safe travels this summer –
