Jesus’ Hands
Jesus’ Hands
With His hands He healed the sick,
the helpless and the weak.
He touched blind eyes so they could see,
and tongues so they could speak.
With open hands and open arms,
He let the children come.
He laid His hands upon their heads
and blessed each precious one.
With His hands He broke the bread
and poured a glass of wine.
He shared a special supper
with His helpers one last time.
With His hands nailed to a cross
and with His arms stretched wide,
He took our sins upon Himself.
He suffered and He died.
But death could not contain our Lord.
His purpose was to save.
With nailed-scarred hands He rose again
and left an empty grave.
Jesus blessed His faithful friends
before He said good-bye.
With lifted hands toward Heaven,
He rose into the sky.
So let us lift our hands to Him
and praise Him as we sing.
Jesus is the Lord of lords,
our Savior and our King.

That is very well-written poetry (and I don’t say that about a lot of poetry). Good rhythm and rhyme and words easy enough for a child to understand. (I recently sold a book titled Rhyme Time Bible for Little Ones that has Bible stories in poetry. I pray that it is written as well as yours.)
Thank you for your kind comments, Donna. Writing in rhythm and rhyme is a tough challenge and many people are quick to criticize pieces written in poetry form. I am sure your rhyming Bible stories are wonderful. If the words we write bless others, that is what matters.
What a lovely poem – simple, and the truth of the Gospel clearly portrayed.
Love it, Crystal!! Thanks so much for sharing!
A sweet post, Crystal. Well written and full of simple truth!
Well done!
Thanks to all of you for your kind comments. This was one of those poems that just came into my head. I know that God’s hand is in all of our writing as well as everything that we do for Him, but sometimes He just gives us a little something special to share.
