Be still and know that I am God
Psalm 46: 10 – He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 62: 1-2 – For God alone my soul waits in silence, from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall never be shaken.
Do you desire God’s presence in your life? I know sometimes it’s really hard to find a moment of quiet in the midst of our everyday lives. We all have busy agendas.
Being still and silent will allow us to hear with our heart and God to speak from his.
I find that getting up an hour earlier than my son, Caleb, gives me the time I need to be on my knees before the Lord. I need God to be my navigator through this journey we call life and “mommy-hood.” Life is hard, but God is good.
Getting up early in the morning may not be for everybody, and that’s ok. Just try and find a moment within your day to sit and be still. Be blessed by God’s presence.
I came across this book written by Brooke McGlothin called – Praying for Boys. I am loving this book! I will be writing a review about it at a later date, but she gives:
*10 powerful prayers (verses) to help you fight for the heart of your son…
1. Psalm 51:10 – Create in my son a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him.
2. Deuteronomy 13:4 – May my son walk after You, God, and fear You and keep Your commandments and obey Your voice. May he serve You and hold fast to You.
3. Deuteronomy 31:6 – May my son be strong and courageous and not fear or be in dread, for it is You, Lord, our God, who goes with him. You will never leave him or forsake him.
4. 1 Kings 9:4 – May my son walk before You, God, as king David walked with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that You have commanded him and keeping Your statutes and rules.
5. 1 Timothy 4:12 – Like Timothy, may my son be an example to believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.
6. Proverbs 4:11 – May my son listen to the way of wisdom and be led in the paths of uprightness.
7. Psalm 91:5 – Lord, be with my son in trouble; rescue him and honor him.
8. Ephesians 6:2 – May my son honor his father and mother.
9. 1 Timothy 1:5 – May my son have love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
10. Phil 4:8 – May my son think on what is true, honorable, just, pure, commendable; if there is any excellence, if there is any worthy of praise, may he think about these things.
*Silently I wait for you, O God, in the quiet depths of my open and expectant heart. Amen.
Be blessed,
