Helping Children Get Ready for Thanksgiving
A few weeks ago, I posted an activity for families as they prepare for Thanksgiving. It’s not too late to put that into action. It could be done with all of your family’s Thanksgiving guests.
Today, my mind is on the physical preparation for Thanksgiving. If you are hosting the holiday in your home, there is lots to do. It is an all-hands-on-deck kind of busyness. Sometimes, children are so excited about the upcoming special day that they are not focused on their usual responsibilities. In some homes, perhaps the daily chores in a child’s room are done by a parent or caregiver.
Here is a simple list for children and teens to get the job done as you prepare for the big feast. When your helper completes one of the tasks on the list, have him mark it in some way. A check, a sticker, or a smile face are a few ideas.
Remember, the house does not have to be perfect. Above all, you want an atmosphere of a shared family time during which you express thanks to God for His many blessings.
I want to wish a heartfelt Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
