When Christmas Is “Over”
I’m writing this on Christmas Eve afternoon. Little grandson napping, big chocolate lab snoozing too, my daughter and my husband at church practicing for tonight’s service, my son-in-law at work.
Around town, the last-minute frenzy is palpable. But when you read this on Friday morning, Christmas will be over.
Or, “over.”
Because the gift we celebrate on Christmas had been promised before the world began and has no end.
Christmas is never over.
I’ve loved this Christmas song since I first heard it many years ago. I’ve always thought of it as a song to welcome, and mark, the Christmas of each passing year. But today I think it’s a good reminder that believers carry the gift within us. And someday we’ll “celebrate Christmas” in the presence of the Gift himself.
To keep this Christmas going just a little longer, I’m doing an after-Christmas giveaway! Three winners will each have an opportunity to choose one of the books I featured on my blog in 2014 as “The Book I Bought” each month and will receive a copy of my newest book, The Sweetest Story Bible for Toddlers. Hop over to my blog to enter–it’s easy!
