Book Bag Fun for Preschoolers
Recently, I posted about A Traveling Book Club for preteen girls and an Undercover Devotion Club for boys.
Perhaps your reader is much younger. There are lots of way to offer traveling book bag fun to him and his friends.
Here are some ideas for how to create a traveling book bag for the younger reader. Let’s look at Crystal Bowman’s book Thank You, God, for This Day.
- Choose a colorful bag that will be appealing for a boy or a girl in the age range from four to eight.
- Because the book has a cute cover with two cats, consider adding a stuffed cat (or two to represent the ones on the cover). You may even want to add clothing for them.
- Add a notebook (again with a fun cover), as well as some fun colored pencils, markers, or crayons.
- Explain that each child will decorate the next page in the notebook by drawing a picture or writing about something to thank God for that day. Ask each child to write the day of the week or the date on the page before passing it on to the next child.
- After a week or two, go through the pages with the children as a group. Discuss the many reasons that they are blessed and should thank God for the new day.
