A Bible Storybook Just Right for Babies and Toddlers!
Once upon a time there was a little boy who loved his books. Long before he could talk, he loved turning pages, looking at the pictures, hearing his grandpa name the objects in the pictures, and pointing to those objects.
And once upon a time there was a grandma looking for a truly age-appropriate Bible storybook for that same little boy. And the best ones she found still contained too many words.
And an idea formed …
Why not write a Bible storybook that could be designed especially for babies, toddlers, and young preschoolers? With the shortest stories you’ve ever seen, and with labeled objects and people in the illustrations that little ones can point to and name?
And this week that book found its way onto store shelves and online retailers’ pages, the Say & Pray Bible: First Words, Stories, and Prayers, from Tommy Nelson.
It’s a study board book with a padded hard cover–it’s nearly indestructible! Sarah Ward contributed the cheery illustrations. Each of the 20 stories, chosen just for little ones, includes a short Bible verse and a brief thank-you prayer.
During one of the stages of acquiring language, children especially enjoy pointing to objects and naming them (as I wrote about here). I’m so pleased they can do this now while they’re being introduced to God and his Word … and I’m praying for this book to reach many, many homes!
My grandsons have been helping me celebrate!
