Praying Through the Produce Aisle
Fruit is an amazing thing. It takes on almost every conceivable size, color, texture, and taste. Fruit can be large or small; red, blue, yellow, green, or any combination; pitted or smooth; and sweet, tart, juicy, or tangy. But for all the many differences, fruit everywhere in the world has one thing in common—it holds seeds. The very definition of fruit, according to Merriam-Webster, is “the part of a plant that has the seeds in it.”1 When we look at Genesis 1:11, we find that definition literally goes back to the beginning of time, “and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself” (KJV).

People have a lot in common with fruit. We, too, come in almost every conceivable size and skin tone. Our personalities have varying textures, and we all leave a unique flavor in the lives of the people we spend time with. But for all our many differences, people around the world have one thing in common—the need of a Savior. Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (KJV). Every person on earth needs to hear the Good News of Jesus.
