FINDING GREAT BOOKS FOR CHRISTIAN KIDS: POPULAR BOOKS
Sometimes finding parent-approved, child-desired book for Christian kids can be a challenge. Great book are out there, but it can take a list of strategies to find just the right ones. No one wants to buy a book just to see it gathering dust on a shelf.
We have been working through a series on finding great books for Christian kids. The series started here.
Let’s think about the aspect of popular books. That can be good or not so good. It depends
on who finds the book popular and if they share the values and beliefs that you share.
Here are a few ways to find popular books for Christian kids.
- Organize a book club through the children/teen ministry at your church or through your local Christian bookstore. Ask a college student or young ministry worker to lead the group. Add some theme-related activities to go along with the book.
- Create a traveling book club. It takes just a little time to organize, but once established takes little time to maintain. I posted about it here:
- Ask older students and youth ministry workers to recommend books TO YOUR YOUNG READER. I direct recommendation from a Christian mentor can go a long way. It is a great opportunity for those individuals to find good reads for those they minister to and to connect with them on a personal level.
How does your family find appropriate, popular books?
Blessings,
Carol
