Those 25 Books for Christmas
Did your family participate in the 25 Books for Christmas fun this year? Crystal Bowman posted about it here. I posted about a spin on the same idea for older kids.
Now what?
Maybe you have lots of new books as a result of that tradition. Isn’t that a wonderful thing to have? You may wonder how your kids will ever read that many books.
Here are some ideas for using those books now that Christmas morning has come and gone.
Pick a favorite book…
and…
read to TEN people.
If your child is a beginning reader, this a great way for him to practice reading and to share the fun with those in his life. Even preschoolers can retell a familiar story while turning the pages of a picture book.
Who might be the listener for such reading?
- Parents
- Grandparents
- Siblings
- Neighbors
- Family friends
- Caregivers
- Someone in an assisted living facility
- Teacher
- Children’s ministry worker
- A favorite stuffed animal
- Even the family pet
As we approach the New Year, it is also a great time to start a new devotional with your child or preteen.
I wish you many hours of reading together as a family.
