Let’s talk about contests.
Entering a writing contest does several things for the young aspiring author.
- A writing contest is validation that others value writing and see it as important enough to create a contest.
- A writing contest offers feedback from authors who are interested in investing time and encouragement in future authors.
- A writing contest, particularly an awards ceremony, gives young writers the opportunity to meet others with like-minds and aspirations.
- A writing contest might draw attention from publishing industry professionals, such as editor and agents.
Where can parents find out about specific writing contests?
Traditionally, schools offer a writing contest called Young Authors. Also, local writing groups for adults often sponsor contests for children and teens.
Writing is a worthwhile profession, but it requires dedication and hard work. Parents have the awesome responsibility of praying for and guiding their children in any area of calling.
Many blessings on your family as you explore your child’s interests and talents –
