Waiting for New Life
As I write this, I’m waiting for a new grandchild to be born. I don’t know if it will be a boy or a girl, but I know it doesn’t matter. That baby will be loved. He or she will be the youngest of eight children, born to my daughter and her husband. We can’t wait to meet the newest member of the family.
But I’m keenly aware that there are other kinds of less pleasant waiting.
Waiting for a marriage to be restored.
Waiting for healing or pain relief.
Waiting for prodigal children to turn back to God.
Waiting to conceive.
Waiting for employment.
Waiting for a spouse.
No, waiting isn’t always pleasant. But it is never wasted. Though it may be painful at the time, God is refining you into pure gold. Even famous people from the Bible had to wait, and God used the waiting to grow their character, to prepare them for leadership or abundant blessing. It doesn’t always feel good. But it’s beneficial. And at the end of the waiting there’s new life. It may not look like you thought it would, but it’s there for the taking.
What are you waiting for? Trust that God has your back. He’s not wasting your time, but using it to make you into the person He designed you to be. Look for the lessons. Grow at an accelerated rate. Lean into His goodness and favor. He loves you and longs for you to trust Him in this waiting time. Then receive the new life He offers with a grateful heart.
Prayerfully joining you in the waiting.
Thank you, Andrea.
Beautiful profound words, Linda! I have had that on my heart a lot lately, “Wait on God”! I will share your good words with those around me who need hope! <3
What is the best way to share this with a friend?
Never mind! Lol! I can just share it from your FB post! 🙂
For future reference, you can just scroll up from these comments and look for the social media icons. Click on the one you want to share a post to and it brings it up in a new window so you can add your own message with it if you want. Sharing from FB is fine, too! Thanks so much!
Thanks, Kim. I appreciate you sharing this with your friends in need of hope.
Thank you for bringing out the beautiful in waiting.
Such a beautiful comment, Janice. Thank YOU!
That’s why I like the KJV version of Isaiah 40:31 best: “They that wait upon the Lord…” Newer versions say “hope,” and to me that changes the meaning. It’s not always easy to wait but it’s usually worth it in the end. Good thought, Linda!
Yes, waiting and hoping don’t always mean the same thing. You can wait in hope or in utter despair. But they who wait upon the Lord always have hope!
We always seem to be waiting for something, don’t we? But I think waiting on the Lord (WITH the Lord) can only serve us for better. Congrats on your new grandbaby!
Amen, Pam! Thank you!
We impatient people don’t enjoy waiting at all. Praying to hear wonderful news about your new family member soon.
