Spiritual Warfare
We’ve discussed the topic of spiritual warfare in the past. It’s something I believe you become more conscious of as your relationship with the Lord deepens. More than coincidence or fate, Christians realize Satan is real and he is determined to sever our relationship with God.
Thankfully, God is even more determined to keep us close to Him.
Great kings of the Bible like Saul and David struggled with temptation. The Israelites were rescued from slavery and still turned away from God and served Baal. The impulsive apostle, Peter, denied three times that he even knew Jesus just to save his own skin. Satan preys on our weaknesses and doubts. He takes advantage of those dark moments when we are traveling through the valleys of life and wonder if God truly cares.
What a blessing it is, therefore, to have the gift of the armor of God to protect us.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
This is a topic we teach on even at an early age in the hopes our students will be better prepared to handle the war that Satan wages against them. They are not Satan’s victims. They are God’s chosen ones.
