Introducing…Little Ewe by Laura Sassi
A cute little lamb is making a big splash this season after her release on February 23rd! LITTLE EWE is Laura Sassi’s newest release, illustrated by Tommy Doyle, and published by Beaming Books.
Laura Sassi has masterfully combined so many different elements to create a multi-layered picture book that is a treasure to enjoy with your child.
First and foremost, it retells a Bible story. When just one sheep gets lost, the Good Shepherd leaves the ninety nine to search and find her. However, it is the masterful way that Laura spins the story of a wayward lamb having fun wandering off…bouncing on five floating logs, splashing with six croaking frogs…and so on…until things go amiss with the hungry badgers and the owls with spooky eyes. It is a counting book and a rhyming book! I love the word choice and the way the poetic lyrics sing! My favorite page is near the end as Laura brings the story to a close:
“One Little Ewe, now safe and snug, cradled in kind Shepherd’s hug.”
I highly recommend this book for your little one! And if you’ve never visited Laura’s website, be sure to do so. She is always offering creative crafts and tidbits to accompany her beautiful books.
About the Author
Laura Sassi has a passion for telling stories in prose and rhyme. She is the author of five picture books including the best-selling Goodnight, Ark, which was a 2015 Christian Book Award Finalist; Goodnight, Manger; Diva Delores and the Opera House Mouse, which won First Honor Book for the 2019 Best in Rhyme Award; Love Is Kind; and Little Ewe. In addition to books, she’s published over one hundred poems, stories, crafts, and articles in various children’s publications.
