The book You’re More than a Sprout… by Jill Roman Lord and illustrated by Sarah Demonteverde, is a sweet rhyming book with bright and cheerful illustrations. It is perfect book to start a discussion with your children as they are walking through a disappointment or a life experience that is difficult to understand.

At first the little bamboo seed feels alone and without purpose. He is buried in the dirt! But through the pages of the book, he discovers his worth and part in the Master’s plan. The book leaves the reader with the take-away that God’s work in our lives takes time and patience and may turn out different than we thought!

The author ties the story to Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

There are some wonderful discussion questions to use in a conversation with your child in the back of the book!
