Religious Easter Books for Children
Easter is just around the corner. It’s a great time to pick up a children’s book about the resurrection and the meaning of this amazing Christian celebration. Did you know that one of our blog members has written several books just for this holiday? It’s our own Crystal Bowman! This humble and godly woman offers a treasure trove of titles to help your young child connect with the God’s word and Christ’s amazing sacrifice.
One book is called Lily’s Easter Party- Story of the Resurrection Eggs. (Yes, I enjoyed the ironic name choice for the main character!) The story takes place during a neighborhood egg hunt. Bowman uses symbols inside twelve eggs along with scripture references to relay the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. This book works well for kids in first and second grade. I imagine parents would want to recreate these eggs and messages too.
Her second book is called An Easter Gift for Me. Geared for a younger audience, Bowman explains the story of the cross with fun rhyming text. By keeping the message simple and honest, any child can access the deeper meaning of the holiday. The board book format makes it sturdy.
A third book is called This is Easter. Bowman shows the true meaning of Easter using her specialty, rhyming verse. This board book covers a little more ground, introducing a few events prior to Christ’s encounter with the cross. It’s a good fit for the toddler crowd.
The final book (an ebook) is called My Read and Rhyme Easter Story. This book is perfect for early readers since it pulls numerous vocabulary words from the Dolch Sight Word List and, again, uses rhyme to explain the Easter story. Kids can listen to and read along with the book, making it a perfect for the kindergarten and first grade age group.
Bowman even offers an Easter coloring and activity book for all those little artists out there!
As a fan of this author, I invite you to check out Crystal Bowman’s work. She’s won multiple awards—all well deserved.
