How to Take your Child from Creativity to Innovation
Creativity should lead to innovation. We all want to instill creativity in our children. In addition, their creativity should lead to making something better or introducing an entirely new creation. This book just might be the motivation they need.
There is no denying that our creator is a creative God. We can ask out child to look out window or turn on a nature show to see the different and amazing things that God has created. Likewise, we can hand them a mirror. The reflection that looks back at them is a beautiful and inspiring creation. It doesn’t stop there, however. That person that they see was created to create more.
I recently purchased a new children’s book by Jordan Raynor. The title of the book is The Creator in You It is a beautifully illustrated picture book with a very important message. Within the pages of the book, children read about the wonderful things God created and then they read about what He did not create.
Did God make everything?
It is common for young children to say “God made everything”. This statement, however, can unintentionally minimize the fact that God made people and gifted them with talents and abilities to continue to create new things. In the book, Jordan masterfully pieces together words and rhymes that take children alongside of God as He createds the planets, stars, animals, and trees. In addition, it continues by listing the things God did not create. Before his day of rest, God creates a person who will go on to create more and more.
Creativity to Innovation
In this book, children will be encouraged to create something too. They’re told to draw, build, and invent. They discover that they were created to create. After reading this book, your child’s imagination will be stimulated. You’ll want to discuss their creative ideas with them. What new things can they draw, write, build, or invent? I think every child should have a copy of this book so they not only can know that God created their world, but that He wants them to continue the work. The creativity within them is unique to them. It should lead to the innovation of improving God’s creation and even creating new things.
Creativity to Innovation with the Potter.
God is a potter and He creates vessels. In The Little Pot, He allows Little Pot to create fruit. Likewise, In The Tea Pot, He allows Tea Pot to make tea. In The Oil Lamp, the little vessel makes light. It is important to know that God is the potter and the creator. In addition, we want our children to know that He uses us to continue creating wonderful and marvelous things. He rested on the sabbath and loved all that He created. But that doesn’t mean He finished. He created people so they could continue to create with Him. What amazing things can you take from creativity to innovation?
One thing we all should create is the fruit of the Spirit. Join Little Pot and the other vessels as they learn to grow the fruit of the Spirit.
